Chester-Le-Street Amateur Rowing Club has been selected by British Rowing as one of two clubs within the Northern region to receive HSCT coaching. James Carew joined the club in September 2011 and will remain with the club until September 2013.

James coached at a volunteer level for over six years, working with men and women at junior, senior and master levels. The majority of this time was invested in coaching J14-J18 boys and senior men’s squads. This resulted in many local and regional head and regatta wins, competing at Henley Royal Regatta (2009/10/11) and winning silver at the 2010 National Championships.
